Hello and Welcome

My name is Germana Frino Crocamo. I am a mother of 3, wife and photographer currently living on the South Coast of NSW, Australia. I am so happy to be finally sharing my love of photography, travel, food and my everyday life including my Italian heritage through this website.

Today, I enjoy photographing travel and lifestyle photography but am still very passionate about photojournalism and the art of Black and White darkroom printing. My fine art black and white images of Italy are shared on the Prints page.

A little about my past 

My passion for photography began in high school when I elected to do photography in Year 9 as a 14 year old. My love for black and white analogue photography and the darkroom was nurtured by an amazing mentor in Brian Scott, PD/H/PE and photography teacher and Freelance Sports/Press Photographer. I am very proud to have been part of a group of students who contributed to Warilla High School becoming a "Centre of Excellence in Photography".

After finishing my HSC at high school I did some work experience in a freelance commercial photography studio in Chippendale, Sydney. This later led to a full time position as a studio assistant there. This working environment gave me the opportunity to learn so much from very talented photographers who are the best in their fields today. All film back then with medium and large format cameras, definitely the WOW factor everyday. On the weekends I would also photograph sports, weddings and worked as a photojournalist for The Lake Times a local newspaper in Shellharbour City.

After getting married I took a break from photography to raise a family. We moved to the south of Italy living in my husband Pasquale's hometown village, Novi Velia (Provincia di Salerno). After 13 months we moved back to Sydney but Novi Velia is always in our hearts, our second home and who knows we may move back there one day. We now try and return to Italy as often as possible to spend time with our family.

I love Italy as much as I love Australia and hope to share parts of our life through my blog.
